request - rescan single program action
« on: November 16, 2023, 02:23:26 PM »
Happy paid for user :)  I use UCheck across a few machines on my home network.  When a program needs to be updated I normally download and save out the latest version of the installer, and then run the downloaded installer on each machine as I get to it, rather than asking UCheck to install the update for me.

Helps with large updates, and making sure you have the installer on hand for later.

But this does mean I need to run a full check to update the results when I have just installed a few updates manually.  I know which programs have been updated, and would just like to tell UCheck to re-check those programs specifically, as I work through the list of updates.

Hi cat93821,

Welcome to Adlice.com Forum.

You use UCheck in quite a unique way.
Could you not use UCheck cache feature and use it as a base installer for every machine ?

Regards.

I had no idea that feature existed!  I am a new user, part of the influx from Sumo, clearly need to read the help :)

The other place a re-scan the current program would help is when you are using the built in update check in one of the reported programs.

The main place this problem came up was with a development machine that has to have several old versions of Visual Studio installed, so I started with 87 programs reported as needing to be updated!  That was a little daunting, especially since most of them just had to be excluded, since I need the old versions.  Now things are more under control its much less of an issue, but thought it might be a nice helper for people.

Hi cat93821,

You are making sense.
I will ask Tigzy again about this.

Regards.
