scan log
« on: April 06, 2014, 09:18:14 PM »
Ads playing in the background.
I have tried nearly every rootkit removal tool to no avail.
RogueKiller did detect an svchost process that was being used by the malware and killed it immediately but was unable to detect where it came from.
I have tried process explorer to see what the offending svchost.exe process was launched by but it is does not show it.
the command line listing shows dependencies as N/A
The log is attached.

Hello
Have you tried Gmer or Malwarebytes Antirootkit?

Thanks for the reply.
I had tried Gmer and Malwarebytes to no avail.

I finally went through a barrage of removal tools in this order: http://www.malwareremovalguides.info/audio-ads-playing-in-background-removal-guide/

Finally Hitman found and cleaned the offending software.

Pay attention to those generic tutorials with specifics search tags pasted on their titles. I'd be suspicious.
Anyway, those tools are all legits, of course. Do you have the name of the culprit? That's maybe something I'll investigate into.
