UCheck / WinZip Update
« on: September 22, 2023, 07:37:31 PM »
I ran a UCheck scan today, and it told me that an update for WinZip was available.  I have WinZip 25 Pro already, but the UCheck report offered WinZip 28, which deleted my Version 25 and left me with an evaluation copy of WinZip Pro 28 at a price of $39.95 per year.  I had a full licence in perpetuity for WinZip 25 Pro.  Thankfully, I was able to use Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove the new version.  I also had the original Version 25 installer file and licence key, so I am back in business.

In my view, this should not be offered as an update since it costs the user money for that update and destroys the older licensed version.

Submitted for your consideration.  Thank you, and have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

UCheck / TeraCopy Pro Not Being Updated
« on: October 03, 2022, 09:47:54 PM »
I have had Teracopy Pro for many years.  Today, I participated in a topic at Bleeping Computer about TeraCopy.  It had not been updated in a long time, so I went and checked the Code Sector Teracopy site.  Lo and behold, I was many versions behind (3.26 vs. 3.9.2).

I checked the UCheck supported software and it reported TeraCopy as among the software apps that UCheck will update.

I have purchased UCheck Premium for many years now.  How come it is missing TeraCopy updates?  I run UCheck every Friday on both of my Windows 11 Pro Dell computers.

UCheck is a great program.  I recommend it to others.

Thank you, and have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

UCheck / TeamViewer Again
« on: December 17, 2021, 08:49:09 PM »
I noticed that I had not received any TeamViewer updates in a while.  I checked.  The version that I had was 15.22.3.  I run UCheck every Friday before I backup my computers.  Both are running Windows 11 Pro x64, 21H2, fully updated.

I launched TeamViewer and "Check for Updates" and found that the current version was 15.25.6.  I updated to that version via TeamViewer.

There have been issues in the past with TeamViewer changing its update protocols so that the UCheck "scraper" does not find them.  I suspect that has happened again.

Submitted for your information.  Have a great weekend.

Best Regards,
-Phil

UCheck / Incorrectly Reporting Malwarebytes Premium Not Updated
« on: September 24, 2021, 07:29:43 PM »
On both my Dell desktop (XPS 8930 SE) and my Dell laptop (XPS 15 7590), UCheck is reporting that my Malwarebytes Premium needs to updated from 4.4.6. to 4.4.7.  Both computers were already running MBAM 4.4.7.  Both computers are running Windows 10 x64 Pro, Build 19043.1237 (21H1), fully updated.  UCheck version is the latest: 4.1.0.0.

Thank you and have a great weekend.

UCheck / Won't Download Notepad++ Version 8.0
« on: June 11, 2021, 07:45:05 PM »
I just ran UCheck on my desktop and laptop computers.  It found three updates for the desktop (Calibre, VLC, and Notepad++) and successfully installed two of them. It refused to download and install Notepad++ Version 8.0.  I went the website and downloaded it and updated it manually.  Windows 10 Pro Build 21H1, fully updated, running on a Dell XPS 8930 SE desktop.  Same thing on my Dell XPS 15 7590 laptop, running Windows 10 Pro, Build 21H1, fully updated.

I have attached report and screen image from the desktop.  Nothing appears when I hover over the "X".

After manually updating Notepad++ Version 8.0 on both computers, UCheck no longer reports the update as being available.

Thank you and have a great day.

-Phil

UCheck / VLC 3.0.14 Update
« on: May 28, 2021, 08:15:55 PM »
Curzon:

The VLC update to Version 3.0.14 using VLC "Check for Updates" was a botched update on their side.  Users were instructed to manually download the new version, and execute the downloaded file themselves to complete the update.  I have Version 3.0.14 of VLC on both of my computers.  UCheck is reporting that update, yellowed out, with an exclamation mark, with no options to perform the update, even if I so wanted to do so, and no way to dismiss the "update" notice, on my laptop only.  Both computers running the current version of UCheck.  Screen snip and the report from last week (same thing this week) attached. Both computers running Windows 10 Pro Build 21H1.  The laptop is a Dell, Model XPS 15 7590.

Thank you and have a great day.

UCheck / UCheck Incorrectly Reports That Winzip Needs To Be Updated
« on: April 02, 2021, 06:27:50 PM »
Curzon:

Today UCheck reported that Winzip needed to be updated.  Interestingly, both the old and new versions have the same Build Designation (winzip_1.jpg).  When I authorized UCheck to download and install the WinZip update, it wanted to remove Winzip (I have the licenced Pro version) (winzip_2.jpg).  When I launch WinZip Pro Version 25, it informs me that I can the latest version (winzip_3.jpg).

Scan report (winzip.txt) attached.

Thank you and have a great day.

UCheck / TeamViewer Updates Not Being Reported
« on: March 05, 2021, 06:14:18 PM »
Twice in the last month, UCheck has failed to identify that new updates to TeamViewer were available.  I only found out because when I launched TeamViewer, it told me that there were new updates available.

Thank you and have a great day.

UCheck / Notepad++ Update Not Downloading Version 7.9
« on: October 04, 2020, 12:37:14 PM »
UCheck is reporting an update for Notepad++ (Version 7.9), but as soon as I click "Download", the box turns red with an "X".

When I launch Notepad++, and tell it to check for updates, it says there are no updates to Version 7.8.9.

The Notepad++ website states that there is Version 7.9.  I manually downloaded Version 7.9 and it installed properly.

Not sure if the issue is your end, or their end.  Submitted for your information.  Have a great day.

UCheck / Would You Consider Adding Smart Switch to UCheck?
« on: July 29, 2020, 08:42:06 PM »
Smart Switch is freeware that is used to transfer data between Samsung phones, but most importantly, in my view, I use it to backup the entire contents of the Samsung mobile to my computers on a weekly basis.

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration of this request.  Have a great day.

RogueKiller PREMIUM / Minor Issues
« on: May 27, 2020, 06:57:17 PM »
I have just again updated RogueKiller Premium to the latest version using UCheck.  I have consistently noticed that even though I check off to launch RogueKiller after an update, it never launches automatically.  I have to manually launch it to confirm that the program has updated.

The second minor issue is that there is a pronounced lag between when I click on RogueKiller to launch it and when it finally appears on the screen after agreeing to the UAC prompt.  The time lag is 15 seconds on my computer.  I have attached my specs.  My desktop is reasonably high performance and nothing else is running (I don't multi-task much).  Perhaps a "Loading RogueKiller" message during the launch delay would be a nice addition to the program.

Have a great day.

-Phil

UCheck / Malwarebytes Update to 4.2.12?
« on: March 13, 2020, 05:38:57 PM »
UCheck is reporting a new update for Malwarebytes, but there is no news of any stable update on the Malwarebytes Forums, and manual update checks using MBAM do not report any updates, on both of my computers.  This might be a beta update, but I don't participate in beta update testing.

Please advise.  Thank you and have a great day.

Regards,
-Phil
