RogueKiller PREMIUM / Program errors
« on: July 15, 2021, 01:34:17 PM »
Hello,

I've been using RK for years (great product!).  Recently, a few weeks ago, it seemed it had "forgotten" my premium status.  I reentered the license information and used up one of the 5 remaining license instances but everything worked well after.  Now, there is an update (it did not update automatically despite m having premium access) which I downloaded but am having issues as it will consistently tell me to redownload the program.  Also, it is saying I'm using the 16 bit instead of 32 bit program.  Has not done that in years.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi Curson!  Hope you are well!  I'm still having difficulties with the program.  I'm prompted to update but even when I download the exe file, I'm still running into the same RK64.exe issue as last week.  I've tried deleting all program files from the computer but the issue still exists.  A new problem is that the 32 bit RK won't take the update for some reason.  I'll still be prompted to update despite having just done so.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I can still run RK32 so I'll use that in the meantime.  I'm hoping that with the new update, the error will correct itself.

Windows 10.  The error that comes up is this:

"C:Progam\Files\RogueKiller\RogueKiller64.exe

An error occurred while trying to remove a file in the destination directory:

MoveFile failed; code 183
Cannot create a file when the file already exists.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation"

Usually, the installer is able to rewrite RK64 exe.  This is the first time I've run into the problem where it will not rewrite.  Even if the RK64 exes are removed, I still get the same error.

After the installation is complete (when I hit "Ignore" for RK64), I get another error message:

"Unable to execute file:

C:\ProgramFiles\RogueKiller\RogueKiller64.exe

ShellExecuteEx failed; code 5
Access is denied"

Thank you for your help!  Sorry about all of this!

That did not work.  The RK32 bit still works and updates fine but there's still an error when it comes to installing the RK64 exe.

Hi Curson, thanks for responding. I tried that and it doesn't work. The exe files (RKcmd64 and RKcmd) no longer work. The Updater exe file also no longer works (a window pops up stating "product not recognized: please contact us"). However the RK32 exe works and is currently at version 12.11.22.0.

Should I just stay with that? I'm concerned if the next update will cause this to happen again. Never had this problem before.

Thank you! And thanks for having a great product!!

Hello. The auto reinstall after the most recent update today did not work. A notice said it cannot overwrite the 64bit exe file (I hit "ignore"). Now I cannot run RK at all. Should I uninstall and reinstall? Thank you!
