Hello. The auto reinstall after the most recent update today did not work. A notice said it cannot overwrite the 64bit exe file (I hit "ignore"). Now I cannot run RK at all. Should I uninstall and reinstall? Thank you!

Hi howieh,
Thanks for supporting our product and welcome to Adlice.com forum.
Could you please reboot your computer and retry the update process ?
Regards.

Hi Curson, thanks for responding. I tried that and it doesn't work. The exe files (RKcmd64 and RKcmd) no longer work. The Updater exe file also no longer works (a window pops up stating "product not recognized: please contact us"). However the RK32 exe works and is currently at version 12.11.22.0.
Should I just stay with that? I'm concerned if the next update will cause this to happen again. Never had this problem before.
Thank you! And thanks for having a great product!!

Hi howieh,
It seems that RogueKiller's binaries have been corrupted in some way.
Could you please completely uninstall it and reinstall it using this installer (http://download.adlice.com/api?action=download&app=roguekiller&type=setup) ?
Regards.
-
That did not work. The RK32 bit still works and updates fine but there's still an error when it comes to installing the RK64 exe.
-
Hi howieh,
Which operating system are you running ?
Could you please give me the complete error message that is displayed ?
Regards.
-
Windows 10. The error that comes up is this:
"C:Progam\Files\RogueKiller\RogueKiller64.exe
An error occurred while trying to remove a file in the destination directory:
MoveFile failed; code 183
Cannot create a file when the file already exists.
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation"
Usually, the installer is able to rewrite RK64 exe. This is the first time I've run into the problem where it will not rewrite. Even if the RK64 exes are removed, I still get the same error.
After the installation is complete (when I hit "Ignore" for RK64), I get another error message:
"Unable to execute file:
C:\ProgramFiles\RogueKiller\RogueKiller64.exe
ShellExecuteEx failed; code 5
Access is denied"
Thank you for your help! Sorry about all of this!

Hi howieh,
Do you have Administrative rights ?
Could you please check the volume filesystem for corruption ?
Regards.
-
No errors or corrupted files/sections noted.

I can still run RK32 so I'll use that in the meantime. I'm hoping that with the new update, the error will correct itself.

Hi howieh,
Let's test this.
Please drop me a message if this issue is not fixed with next week update.
Regards.
-
Ok, sounds like a plan. Thank you again for your time and help! I really appreciate it!

Hi howieh,
You are very welcome.

Hi Curson! Hope you are well! I'm still having difficulties with the program. I'm prompted to update but even when I download the exe file, I'm still running into the same RK64.exe issue as last week. I've tried deleting all program files from the computer but the issue still exists. A new problem is that the 32 bit RK won't take the update for some reason. I'll still be prompted to update despite having just done so.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
