Bug : Roguekiller crash
« on: October 28, 2014, 05:25:58 PM »
Hello,

I want to let you know about a bug I recently noticed with Roguekiller.

The program systematically crashes during the pre-scan (and also my computer !) when scanning the process AISuite.exe

AIsuite.exe is the program that manages new Asus Z97 motherboard like Asus Z97-A.

When I deactivate this program, Roguekiller works fine like it always did.

Maybe some will find this info interesting.

I also know how to use Roguekiller by deactivating AISuite.

Hello
Thanks for letting us know.
Do you have sent the dump file through the interface?

Yes I did.

When I did it was maybe not with the last version of Roguekiller ... I had a blue screen at this time.

I also noticed the following blue screen message : "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval".

Now with the last version, my screen freezes when Roguekiller scans the AiSuite.exe process, and I have to reboot.

Hope you will find a solution.

So it's a BSoD, not a RK crash.
Could you retrieve the minidump located in C:/windows/minidumps and attach it here?

i tried to reproduce the pb but i got nothing in the c:/windows/minidump directory ...
maybe it's because i did not get a BSoD but only a screen freeze ...
i got BSoD with former versions of Roguekiller but not with last one.

i don't know if there is another log i can try to provide ...

Screen freeze is very often a BSoD.
When that freezes, are you able to move the mouse?

no I'm not able to move the mouse.

after having reproduced several times the bug, i can provide the .WER (Windows Error Files) files located in :"C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\windows\WER\"

and a capture of process explorer screen showing the processes causing the crash ...

hope this helps.

That doesn't help much...  :-\

Is it while scanning processes or services?

That shouldn't happen. It only scans path/memory of the process.
Strange behavior.

I'll see if I can reproduce with a ASUS motherboard.
Can take time though.

Great if you can analyze the pb ...

Anyway it's still possible to use Roguekiller by first closing AISuite and then it works perfectly ...

As you mentionned in user guide, maybe it's better to close unnecessary programs before scan.

thanks for the great work

Yeah, but that shouldn't happen anyway.
Closing everything is to spend less time in scanning...

Unfortunately it's very hard to repro, because specific hardware related sofware.
I bet it'll never run if not on that specific Asus mothership.

By chance, do you have the CD where that program is?
If yes, could you zip it and share?
